Breeder Campos Yeguada, E – Pepino
Size 169 cm
Following a lengthy period of consolidation of the Holsteiner breed characterised by intensive use of the genes of successful Holsteiner stallions like Landgraf, Lord, Capitol, Caretino, Corrado, Cassini and Contender, French, Dutch, and Belgian genes are now being increasingly introduced, primarily through stallions successfully shown at the top level of competition.
Gradually, the first offspring of these stallions are now being used in Holstein, showing very clearly that these stallions can breed very successfully on the basisof damlines with top genetics. Kingsroad by Kannan is the offspring from such a breeding. His sire Kannan by Voltaire out of a Nimmerdor dam was successfully competed by French rider, Michel Hécart. Kannan topped the WBFSH jumping sire ranking in 2014. His son Nino des Buissonnets (Steve Guerdat), London Olympic winner with numerous Grand Prix wins at international top competitions secured points for his sire. His most successful offspring also include Molly Malone with Bertram Allen and Kismet under Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum.
Kingsroad’s dam is Monarta by Corofino, born at Johann Hermann Claussen’s Neunkirchen stud farm in 1997. Her dam is Donata II. A full sister to the stallions Cassini I and II and a half sister to Clarimo,Donata’s produce includes Lovari, a licensed stallion successfully competed in the USA. In foal by Quantum, Monarta was sold to Italy and produced Silverstras (born 2002), a mare with international jumping successes at 1.60m. Later Monarta was sold to Spain, to the Campos family’s Holsteiner stud farm, where she produced Kingsroad by Kannan in 2013. Kingsroad has been licensed at the Elmshorn stallion licensing in January 2016.This 3-year-old stallion standing 1.69m at the withers is stamped by his sire Kannan. Kingsroad’s exceptionally powerful topline is particularly noticeable. The stallion has long legs with big, sound hooves,as typical for Kanaan offspring. His free jumping performance during the licensing lived up to his international top bloodlines. Initially rather low-key, the stallion’s performance improved with everyround, and the last two passes were without question the most impressive of the entire event, leaving no questions in terms of quality of jumping, scope, and ability.
