Breeder Verband der Züchter des Holsteiner Pferdes, Elmshorn
Size 168 cm
There is a long tradition of crosses to Arabian blood in Holsteiner breeding. In particular the Anglo-Arabian Ramzes has influenced the bloodlines of many top Holsteiners through his offspring. Through Bachus and his son Baldini, the Anglo-Arabian stallion Bajar also accounts for excellent offspring like Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum’s Olympic horse, Bella Donna.
When looking for new blood alternatives, the highly interesting Hermes D’Authieux caught the eye of the Holsteiner Verband representatives at the stud farm of Xavier Leredde, rider and owner of the exceptional stallion Papillion Rouge. It took several years to obtain a three-year lease on this Anglo-Arabian stallion, by now a successful jumper to S level in France.
Already the mare performance tests saw many Hermes daughers demonstrating great jumping ability. At the Neumünster stallion licensing his two sons Humphrey and Hermes de Lux proved particulary impressive. Dr.Thomas Nissen described Humphrey at the 2011 stallion licensing as ”one of the most typey stallions of his age group. A part bred stallion positively infl uence by Arabian blood and a truly striking appearance due to his very expressive structure. His big frame and absolutely correct conformation reflect the harmony of his body structure, revealing the successful Anglo-Arabian cross which has also effected a perfectly improved topline. He exhibits high quality basic paces, with a surpassingly rhythmic, loose, and ground-covering walk. Moreover, he trots and canters with big and very supple movement. At Neumünster, the stallion did not perform to his best ability over the jump. A bit shy and with an uneven front leg he hints at the quality he has previously demonstrated to the commission several times. His bloodline can be an important stimulus for Holsteiner breeding.”
Hermes’ bloodline is stamped by proven Anglo-Arabian and TB sires like Israel/AA, Nithart/AA, Night and Day/TB and Rantzau/TB. The genes of the last named are also carried by Cor de la Bryère offspring.
In France, numerous Hermes offspring have been shown at the young horse championships in Fontainebleau and compete at S level.
Humphrey’s dam was a successful sport horse in her own right. Bred to Coriano, she produced Coriena, at 6-year-old successfully shown in young jumper classes at M level. The most successful horse out of Humphrey‘s 2nd dam Ballerina is the show jumper Leopold, with wins to S level under Markus Merschformann.
In 2012, Humphrey was 70-day performance tested in Schlieckau. His outstanding performance particularly over the jumps earned him a final score of 8.48. In the fi nal test, the test rider awarded him a 9.0 for his jumping ability.
With above average foal evaluations, his first crop is characterized by type, charm, and generous lines.
