Already as a foal, Chin Champ’s excellent type, charisma, and high-quality movement made him stand out and many rated him a promising stallion candidate already back then. He confirmed this evaluation at the Neumünster stallion approval in 2008. Great presence, good looks, outstanding basic paces and careful jumping in combination with great ability were the traits which secured him the premium stallion rating.

His breeder, Dutchman Gerhard Roerink, had purchased his 2nd dam as a foal, and had his dam Ravenna outstandingly produced so that she passed a very good mare performance test and was awarded the state premium title at the Elmshorn mare show.

Through the top sire Contender, Ravenna, a daughter of the successful S level stallion Carvallo by Carthago goes back to Waldfee by Latino out of Esplanade (by Colt). The last-named is a daughter of the famous mare Adrette and thus a granddaughter of Dorette, one of the most important mares from the high-achieving line 18B1. This mare family has always been one of the most successful stallion producers in the breeding programme, with representatives like for example Constant, Farn, Lagos, Quantum, Rembrandt, Roman and Ronald. But also important sport horses like Orient (Hans Günter Winkler), Campesino (Thomas Voss) and Queen Liesa (Toni Haßmann) have come from this dam line. Chin Champ’s sire Chin Chin is by Constant and thus linebred to line 18B1.

Just as well, Chin Champ has several crosses to Cor de la Bryère, a stallion known to stamp his offspring, through Chin Chin, Carvallo and Contender. Chin Chin, a highly successful international show jumper under Mexican Jaime Azcarraga, competed at the Seoul Olympics where he took 8th place individually. After fi nishing his career in competition, Chin Chin was put to stud in the Netherlands at Wiebke v. d. Lageweg’s. Chin Chin’s dam line is the highly successful line 4539 bred by the Köhncke family of Badendorf. Three-time Derby winner Collin is considered as the most successful current representative.

Chin Champ was successfully performance tested in Schlieckau in 2009, scoring 9.0 for jumping technique, 9.75 for jumping ability, 9.5 for cross-country jumping technique and 9.0 for free jumping. In his first showing season, Chin Champ and his rider Jörg Sievertsen already won and
placed in young jumper classes at A and L level. Even though he had not been shown much in young horse classes, he qualifi ed for the Bundeschampionat scoring 9.0 at Breitenburg with Lars Bak Andersen. At the Bundeschampionat Chin Champ performed impressively, demonstrating outstanding attitude and jumping ability and took a much noticed 6th place in the final.

Also in 2012, the stallion achieved high placings in young jumper classes to M** level as well as qualified for the Bundeschampionat under Lars Bak Andersen. In 2013, under his new rider Thomas Konle, Chin Champ won several jumper classes, some of them at S level.

His foals are characterized by above average paces and impulsion (146 points), beautiful type and correct structure (137 points). His overall index in the foal evaluation is 142.
